Carmel is from Newfoundland, a Mik'maq visual artist, musician, songwriter, community arts health practitioner, art and creative writing facilitator for adults with developmental disabilities. She is a short-film co-producer for 1 King 5 Kwe, a production that will be screened in the new year. She is attaining her B.A. in Indigenous/Canadian studies program at Carleton University. Her most recent work, "Breaking Through to the Sun", chosen by the student Mental Health Advisory Committee, Carleton University will be on display above the Unicenter Friendship Bench at Carleton University.
